Bang Chan occupies a singular place in K-pop, serving simultaneously as the leader of Stray Kids, the creative engine of the group's in-house production unit 3RACHA, and a solo artist who has carved out a distinctive voice beyond the group's collective framework. Born on October 3, 1997, in Seoul and raised in Sydney, Australia, Bang Chan, whose given name is Christopher Bang, brought a multicultural perspective and a tireless work ethic to the group he helped shape from its very first days.

Before Stray Kids debuted in 2018, Bang Chan was already building. As a trainee at JYP Entertainment, he formed the hip-hop crew 3RACHA alongside Changbin and HAN, operating under the handle CB97. That trio became the production backbone of Stray Kids, responsible for writing, composing, and producing the majority of the group's catalog. Bang Chan's role was not limited to hooks and melodies. He was involved at every stage of the creative process, and his contributions are catalogued across hundreds of songs with the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), where he became a full member in 2023. As of July 2026, 239 songs are registered under his name with KOMCA.

His solo work, developed largely through Stray Kids' SKZ-RECORD and SKZ-REPLAY platforms, reveals a more intimate side of the artist. "DRIVE," a unit track with fellow member Lee Know released as part of SKZ-Replay in 2021, showcased the warmth that sits underneath Bang Chan's instincts as a producer and writer. "BABY," which he first performed as a solo stage during the 5-STAR Dome Tour 2023, arrived as a moment of undiluted feeling, the kind of song that lingers well after the lights go down. It was later included on SKZ-REPLAY 2026 Pt.1, released August 1, 2026, giving it a proper home on streaming services.

"Roman Empire," released in November 2025 through a collaboration with Italian luxury house Fendi, marked a notable step in Bang Chan's solo trajectory. Written, composed, and produced entirely by Bang Chan himself, the track arrived first through Fendi's channels as part of the SKZ-RECORD series, then found its wider audience on SKZ-REPLAY 2026 Pt.1. Bang Chan had been named a Fendi ambassador in January 2025, and "Roman Empire" extended that relationship into genuinely creative territory rather than keeping it at the level of endorsement.

He also lent his voice to "Memory of the Moon," a tribute track released on the second death anniversary of ASTRO member Moonbin, joining artists from across the K-pop community in a collaborative act of remembrance. The collaboration reflected the respect Bang Chan commands among peers, someone who shows up with both craft and genuine care.

Bang Chan has never treated the studio as anything less than a calling. Whether holding together the group that made him or stepping forward under his own name, he brings the same precision, the same warmth, and the same drive to everything he builds.
